Bonsai
- Pooja Sharma Rao

It begins with small oblivions

Forgetting the name of

A childhood pet

Looking for your specs

While wearing them

Making your favourite tea

And pouring it down the drain

That something amiss

With a fancy name- amnesia

Gradually it crawls

Beneath the gossamer tissue

Of memory

Befuddling everything

A constant running

Towards or away from it

The same thing

A stranger’s face

In the mirror

In the soul

A slow simmering

Of losing multiple selves

In the self

And the random questioning
